Suzanne Woolsey

Suzanne Woolsey, Ph.D, is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and also serves as an independent director of the Fluor Corporation and Invesco Chicago Mutual Funds. She joined the National Academies of Sciences in 1989 as the Executive Director for Behavioral Social Sciences and Education. She went on to serve as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Communications Officer for the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering and Institute of Medicine until 2003.

Prior to her tenure at the National Academies, Woolsey worked for ten years as a consultant focused on universities and research institutions. She also served as the Associate Director of the Office of Management and Budget under the Carter Administration. She previously served on numerous corporate and non-profit boards including Van Kempen Mutual Funds, Neurogen Corporation, Intelligent Medical Devices, Rocky Mountain Institute, German Marshall Fund of the U.S. and Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. She currently serves on the boards of California Institute of Technology and Ocean Conservancy.
