Patricia Chambers

Patricia (Patty) Chambers is Arctic Digital Manager for Ocean Conservancy’s Arctic program and provides visual communications, new media, photography and design. 

Born and raised on the shores of the Salish Sea, Patty has nurtured a life-long love and respect for the ocean as a conservation science communicator, sailor, outdoor photographer and former research diver. She has worked on Arctic-related issues since 2010 with The Pew Charitable Trusts’ Arctic program and in 2017 came to Ocean Conservancy. She has specialized in marine conservation issues since 2000 as the Communications Manager for the San Francisco Estuary Institute; a Communications Specialist for Washington State’s Shared Strategy to help protect and restore salmon runs across the Salish Sea; and as a consultant with Skagit Land Trust and the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community helping to craft visual stories and outreach materials that educate and advocate for the protection and appreciation of the natural world. 

Patty has a bachelor’s degree in English literature and photo journalism from The Evergreen State College and studied abroad at the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUI Galway) for 2 years. She lives with her husband Mark and their barn-raised cat Kiki Rodríguez in Bellingham, WA and plays Irish folk music with Lindsay Street performing in Bellingham and the Pacific NW.
