POSITION SUMMARY

The Specialist, Corporate Partnerships, will report to the Director, Corporate Partnerships. As an integral member of the Resource Development department, the Specialist of Corporate Partnerships is part of the team that works to engage the private sector in Ocean Conservancy’s work. The position is responsible for supporting the stewardship of the existing corporate portfolio along with recruitment and acquisition of new partners.

The specialist will support and engage in all phases of corporate partner/prospect development and relationship management including responding to prospect and partner inquiries and requests; arranging and attending meetings; preparing proposals and reports; executing contracts and invoicing; tracking deadlines to meet funder requirements; and maintaining accurate records, as well as conducting research; drafting website and e-news content.

This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC. Employees are expected to be in the office at least four days per quarter. Ideally, this person will work in the office approximately 2-4 times/month with the Corporate Partnerships team (depending on health and safety guidance and situations), with an opportunity to work in the office more if desired. This position may require some travel to attend tradeshows, conferences, partner and prospect meetings and partner activations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains corporate partner summary and pipeline documents, stewardship plans, and various tracking reports and ensures timely submission of acknowledgements, proposals, reports, updates and invoices.
  • Works closely with Resource Development, Digital and Communications teams as needed to ensure deadlines are met for funder engagement, such as website mentions, inclusion in email blasts and newsletters, etc.
  • Responds to inquiries and requests from interested companies and conducts prospect research.
  • Drafts content for website and e-news, and potentially for proposals and reports.
  • Works with Ocean Conservancy’s attorneys to ensure timely review, processing and turnaround of partner contracts.
  • Collects and submits materials for donor reports and proposals.
  • Assists with planning and developing donor touchpoints like the corporate partner e-newsletter.
  • Develops positive working relationships with partners and responds to partner requests quickly and thoughtfully.
  • Enters funder communication and deliverables into Raiser’s Edge and various tracking documents.
  • Assists in tracking of revenue and budget trends, and preparation of revenue forecasts.
  • Maintains a disciplined and effective project management approach to all aspects of work.
  • Tracks frequency and type of inbound prospect inquiries.
  • Takes detailed notes and captures next steps on prospect and partner meetings/calls, and on team calls.
  • Schedules prospect and partner meetings and calls.
  • Assists with various projects and provides cross-team support as needed.
  • Handles gift and acknowledgement processing.

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Two to three years of relevant work experience.
  • Careful attention to detail, superior organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and autonomously.
  • Critical thinking skills and commitment to improving processes and practices with thoughtfulness, resourcefulness, creativity.
  • Ability and willingness to navigate a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including flexibility and the ability to listen and collaborate.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and comfort engaging prospects and partners.
  • Creativity, patience, and a sense of humor.
  • Authentic commitment to the work and mission of Ocean Conservancy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Non-profit experience preferred; passion for the ocean is a plus.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree and expertise with Raiser’s Edge/NXT preferred.

COMPENSATION

Ocean Conservancy is committed to equity in its pay practices and posts expected hiring ranges for each of its positions. Salary minimum is $41,200; salary midpoint is $57,886. The midpoint represents the market rate for a position, and a fully experienced employee may be paid at this level. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialty skills, years of experience, location, and unique background.  We would welcome the opportunity to connect with potential candidates whose salary requirements may be outside of the expected hiring range.
